Weight Loss Diet – Is Your Medicine Making You Fat!
GET YOUR KIDS INTO THE KITCHEN!
By Shane Nolan
Few people taking Medications for common Ailments expect to gain Weight! Those pills the Doctor or Specialist recommend or prescribed may be what is causing you to stack on the Kilos and making your weight loss diet even more difficult to manage. Many drugs can boost your appetite, cause bloating and slow your metabolism to a crawl. Here’s what to do.
Pharmaceutical Drugs on the market today are known to have many side-effects with some possibly being worse than the symptoms they are supposed to be relieving.
* STEROIDS-weight loss reversal.
> Some patients on Steroids can have an increase in their weight by up to 7% or more. Studies have found some patients had weight gains of up to 12.5 to 15 kilograms with long term use.
> Steroids treat conditions such as allergies, asthma and arthritis conditions. They mimic hormones that regulate your metabolism and immune system, and help by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune system. However, an excess of steroids can mimic levels of Cortisol, the stress hormone. As the body needs more energy when stressed, it re-distributes fat to the stomach for easy access. Fat is also sometimes stored on the back of the neck, a condition known as Cushing’s Syndrome.
> Steroids also cause more sugar to be released into your blood, which is stored as fat, causes fluid retention and can greatly decrease the benefits of your weight loss diet.
> Obesity specialist study comments: “Corticosteroids commonly lead to weight gain by increasing appetite and depositing fat in the abdomen and trunk. Doctors should explain to patients that weight gain can occur and advise that they increase their activity levels and focus more on their weight loss diet or regime”.
> Talk with your doctor or specialist if you have any concerns on any medications you may be taking. If possible, try to reduce the strength of your medication or reduce the amount taken, but ONLY if you have been advised by your doctor or specialist first.
> Try Other Options- Many natural health products on the market today can help you with your ailments, just as well as, and very often much better than most pharmaceutical drugs. Natural products for your weight loss diet, arthritis and general health are safer and better options.
*DIABETES DRUGS-weight loss Inhibitor.
> Possible Weight Gains- Sulfonylureas lead to weight gain of 2.5 to 5 kilograms during the 1st year of taking this drug. TZD’s have been linked to weight increases of 1 to 2.5 kilograms over a year.
> Many people with type 2 diabetes are prescribed Sulfonylureas, which stimulates the body to make more insulin to lower blood sugar levels. But. sometimes they cause blood sugars to drop so far that they cause hunger and make patients eat more putting pressure on your weight loss diet regime.
> Another group of diabetes drugs, Thiazolidinediones (TZD’s), help make the body more sensitive to insulin, but also cause it to hold onto salt, causing swelling and weight gain inhibiting your weight loss.
> The Australian Diabetes Council state that some medications do not contribute to weight gain, such as Biguanides and Dpp-4 Inhibitors. But there are other medications that will contribute to weight gain.
> All medications have side-effects, if you are concerned about heart disease, gaining weight etc, exercising for 30minutes every day and a quality weight loss diet of natural products, can be incredibly helpful.
> The Australian Diabetes Council dieticians state that weight loss for people with type 2 diabetes who are also overweight is extremely difficult and can be very stressful. A quality diet and proper control is vitally important in controlling and preventing further complications.
> Natural products with no side-effects can help your body with vital ingredients which help your major organs, and to provide the necessary boost to promote overall bodily functions.
*BLOOD PRESSURE DRUGS-makes weight loss difficult.
> Beta Blockers treat high blood pressure, anxiety and irregular heart beat by lessening your adrenaline’s action on the nervous system. Eventually, blood pressure drops and the heart and your metabolism slows. These drugs can also make patients feel very tired and make weight loss difficult as well.
> Beta Blockers do not usually cause weight gain themselves but can make it very difficult for weight loss. Because these drugs limit how fast the heart can beat, they can reduce the ability to be fully active and burn fat.
> Some patients may be able to switch to Ace Inhibitors, which dampen down levels of the hormone Angiotensin 11, these relax blood vessels and makes blood pressure drop without sparking hunger pangs.
As stated above, every pharmaceutical drug has some side-effect which can be very dangerous and can cause organ damage, ulcers, or some nasty ailment when the product was originally administered to help another ailment. Plain and simply, these drugs are not good for the human body and it’s organs.
If you are truly concerned about your current medication, there are many other Natural Weight Loss, Heart Health, Arthritis Pain Relief and general Overall Health Products available today that can achieve excellent results.

About the Author:
Have you been seeking for a long-term fat loss solution that actually functions? Well look no additional then the HCG Diet Menu. The HCG diet recipes have been utilized since the 1950 to help overweight people overcome their issues when and for all. The HCG targets abnormally stored body body fat and can allow you to drop 1 pound every day or even far more.
HCG Drops: When Nothing Else Works
HCG drops are used when a simple diet is not enough to help you lose your undesired weight. Lots of people use HCG drops to lose fat and never gain back the weight.
HCG drops are based on a natural human hormone that helps mothers lose weight and metabolize during pregnancy. When combined with a low calorie diet HCG drops allow quick weight loss, helping you lose pounds of fat and improve your health.
HCG drops are a good alternative to other HCG methods, like injections. Since most people want to lost weight but don’t like shots HCG drops are a good idea.
Homeopathic HCG drops are easy and painless to use. You don’t need a prescription for HCG drops, and you don’t need supplies to go with the diet drops. Losing weight is as simple as taking the HCG drops and following a low calorie diet, like the HCG diet plan.
HCG drops contain a hormone that signals the body to release pounds of stored fat, helping you lose weight. Since HCG drops are paired with a low calorie diet you get double the fat loss effects. Using HCG drops and a diet also helps the metabolism adjust to burn calories and lose weight faster.
Using HCG drops comes with the HCG diet plan you must follow. The first few days involve a high fat diet with the HCG drops. This step fills the cells with fat and prepares your body to drop pounds. This HCG phase last until you start the low calorie diet.
Next the HCG drops are taken with a low calorie diet. The length of the low calorie phase depends on the amount of weight you want to drop. The HCG diet plan is specific on the foods and amounts that you eat. The HCG drops aid your body in losing the weight while you consume the HCG diet recipes.
During the next phase you continue the low calorie diet but stop using the HCG drops. The HCG drops need to be flushed out of your system. During this phase the low calorie diet centers on foods that help you lose weight but preserve your health. You may have extra HCG drops, but it is essential that you don’t take them during this phase. You have to rely on the HCG diet. You will see the pounds drop off every day.
Once you stop using the HCG drops you have to watch and insure that your weight begins to stabilize. You want to lose the fat, but you need to maintain your health. The HCG diet advises to stay away from carbohydrates for the weight loss diet. If the diet phase isn’t working you don’t need more HCG drops. There are HCG diet plan guidelines for that problem.
HCG drops help your body lose weight, but they don’t make you drop the pounds so fast that you lose your health. When you use the low calorie diet and HCG drops you are also unlikely to gain back the weight you lose. HCG drops are designed to keep you feeling full while you are on the diet. Because of the HCG drops it is much easier to lose weight than if you were just doing a low calorie diet.

To People Who Want To Know Number of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics
By: Victor Salazar
Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics is very important. A 1200 calorie diabetic diet limits consumption of carbohydrates, fats and proteins so that you obtain only 1200 calories per day and nothing more than that. You can use this diet to manage blood sugar or to lose weight. You can take the help of a registered dietitian to plan your diet.
While planning your diet always keep in mind that in place of large meals take small meals and increase number of meals, for example change the regular three meal pattern with a six meal pattern by increasing snacks between the meals. In Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics always give preference to fresh food in place of refined and processed foods. Drink lots of water because it is calorie free and helps to flush away the toxins.
Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics in the breakfast will include one wheat bread with low fat butter or a cup of cereal with a boiled egg and one small fruit. For a lunch options are mixed salad, baked potato, and French bread pizza. You can also add some vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, cabbage etc. For a dinner select grilled chicken or fish and pasta salad or mix vegetable salad with some dressing.
To ensure the right quantities of these foods you can take the help of a dietitian.

Before developing diet plans you must know your nutritional requirement in terms of calories, then select the food from exchange list and plan your daily meal corresponding to your calorie requirement.
The exchange system has six different lists of foods and food from each exchange group is well specified so that one serving of each food has the same amount of carbohydrates, proteins, and fat. These groups are starch/bread, vegetables, fruit, milk, meat and fat. From each food list a certain number of exchange choices are allowed, but amount and type of these exchanges are established on a daily exercise, insulin injections, blood pressure and body weight.
The food replacement can be done only within an exchange list but not between lists even if they have the same calorie count. In the exchange lists some foods are free; these foods have less than 20 calories per serving.
In the Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics you can include five exchanges of starch/bread exchange group, two exchanges of vegetable group, three exchanges of fruit group, two exchanges of milk group, four exchanges of meat and three exchanges of fat group. Each exchange of starch/bread group has 80 calories. In vegetable exchange group each group has 5 grams of proteins, 5 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of fiber.
In fruit exchange group each exchange has about 60 calories. For a Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics with a 1 200 calorie diet avoid artificially sweetened milk and add skim or very low-fat milk and milk substitutes. When you select meat take off the fat before cooking.
In the Number Of Carbs Per Day For Diabetics you can include high fat meat exchanges maximum three times a week. Add fat exchange in very small amount. In this calorie diet avoid saturated and trans-fatty acid in place of that choose polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats.

East Indian Plant Helps Diabetics Lower Blood Sugar, Weight
by: Robert P. Tracy
Type 2 diabetics in the United States have become wary of pharmaceutical companies.
When heavily researched and touted products, such as Avandia, are found to have serious and sometimes fatal side effects, a growing number of suffering diabetics have sought out alternative or holistic remedies.
Even the pharmaceutical companies themselves are considering natural foods and ingredients as remedies for serious illnesses such as diabetes.
In addition to pharma companies, if you Google the Internet, you’re sure to find numerous companies hawking the latest sure-cure, snake oil, promising to eliminate Type 2 diabetes and give you a happy life.
Unfortunately, few of these alternative remedies work. Some are even harmful. Which gives natural products that truly help a bad name. One such product is garcinia cambogia.
Drawing on ancient folk wisdom from India, a natural, wild-growing food garcinia cambogia, has been found by local Indians and American scientists to be highly effective in countering Type 2 diabetes conditions.
Dr. Harry Preuss, a professor at the prestigious Georgetown University Medical Center, has conducted multiple, double-blind placebo studies on this product and found it to be highly effective for restoring diabetic health.
Based on this research in which participants were given a supplement form of garcinia cambogia, Dr. Preuss found that it helped participants to lose weight (not muscle mass), lower blood sugar levels, reduce cholesterol and blood pressure.
In his book, The Natural Fat-Loss Pharmacy, Dr. Preuss notes the benefits of this natural food (its active ingredient, HCA, is found in the dried rind) and recommends its use for both healthy individuals and Type 2 sufferers.
Dr. Preuss also strongly recommends that any natural food or supplement be accompanied by a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
The plant and it history
The dried fruit rind of Garcinia cambogia is a rich source of HCA, and has been used for centuries as a spice, flavor-enhancer, preservative and digestive aid throughout Southeast Asia.
Thus, it has a long history of consumption in countries where the plant is native. Structurally, HCA is similar to the common food additive citric acid, which also occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. A high bioavailability form of HCA has been produced and studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in humans.
A primary mode of HCA action appears to be its ability to inhibit ATP-citrate lyase, an enzyme that helps to form the building blocks of fatty acids and cholesterol.

African American Women and Weight
by Ilana Diallo
Here she comes walking down the street. That beautiful, dark, shapely black woman. Shapely has become a term that describes the African American woman. However, statistics state that the highest percentage of overweight groups of people are African American women. Nearly 66 percent of Americans are overweight or obese, and of that 78 percent are African American women.
We have to face that fact that America is getting fatter each year. The dieting has caused a very pronounced dependency on their products that if aren’t used the individual regains the weight lost. Americans are on an overweight rollercoaster that pauses when it reaches the top and down she goes again.
What Makes the African American Woman Overweight?
African American women are becoming overweight for the same reason most Americans are. African American women are eating fast food, unhealthy cooking, with little or no exercise routine. These lifestyle habits have created a large problem literally. Women tend to have more body fat on them than men.
She is still beautiful as she walks down the street but she pauses every few feet to catch her breath. Being overweight can cause many different health issues such as; diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthmatic issues, and heart disease. These health induced illnesses can be crippling and even lead to untimely deaths.
Taking care of the body through better nutrition adds vitality to a person’s health and life. Illnesses like diabetes is on the rise amongst overweight and obese individuals. These individuals are primarily African American women as they are the leading population that is overweight.
Nutrition Tips
Many times the home cooked meal is the most unhealthy meal of the day. Here are some tips to gradually change the eating habits and still enjoy the food you cook.
Start each morning with a healthy breakfast. Eat healthy multi grain breakfast bars, oatmeal with a little brown sugar, low fat yogurt, a multi grain cereal with little milk (non dairy is the best).
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Consume more whole grains such as; oatmeal, brown rice, and whole grain breads.
Try ordering the healthier options such as; grilled chicken instead of crispy chicken, plain hamburger with veggies only (no sauce), and ask for the salad on the side instead of the french fries.
Make it light when using mayonnaise, butter and other condiment products.
Eliminate sweets in the house. If sweets aren’t in the house it makes it harder to consume them.
Change cooking styles; bake chicken instead fried, use more herbs and less butter, and less salt always.
Adding Fitness to the Routine
Fitness is just as important as nutrition. Do little things to get fitness into your daily schedule.
Park further away from the door when going to the store or from the entrance to work.
Go window shopping at the mall and walk the entire mall.
Take the stairs when optional.
Begin to schedule in exercise into daily schedule. Walk around a local school track.

Here she comes through the door and she is still beautiful, dark, shapely, and two sizes smaller and all she did was change her lifestyle one day at a time.

Walking Aids in Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Loss
By Jackie Khor
Such approaches are thought to be particularly effective in people with Metabolic Syndrome, a pre-diabetic state involving multiple symptoms including over-weight and central obesity, insulin resistance, elevated blood lipids, elevated blood glucose, and high blood pressure.
We hear a lot from both recent and past studies that if we shift in dietary habits to include low-glycemic functional foods and low-calories meals, and the modest increases in physical activity it could offer a valuable approach for reversing Metabolic Syndrome and preventing Type 2 diabetes and heart disease in at-risk people.
The simplest, cheapest and most effective way to access the benefits associated with a physically active lifestyle and they are many is to walk. No kidding.
For example, you might be able to find a few community projects that encourage people to walk 10,000 steps a day. Of course most people do not know what 10,000 steps are equal to, how long, or how far they should walk. 10,000 steps are roughly equivalent to seven or eight kilometers of walking. That may sound like a long walk, but the idea is not to do it all at once, but rather accumulate it over the course of your entire day. Walk and pick up the paper, walk a bit further from where you park the car, and take as many opportunities as you can during the day to acquire steps. Simply put, be a bit more self-propelled during the day. Depending on your habits, you may or may not need to add some extra walking before or after work to achieve the 10,000-step goal.
The normal person, by the way no one is normal, takes about 100 steps
per minute. If we use this number we can calculate that 10,000 steps will take you one hour and forty minutes to complete. Again this doesn’t have to be done all at once. Instead spread it over the entire day which means that still leaves you with over 22 hours on virtual inactivity!
You can use of a pedometer to keep track of the steps that you complete. These are relatively inexpensive and are available through a number of retailers. The pedometer is an effective means of establishing how much you do, and is a great little tool to start you on the road to increased activity.
One time I saw a movie on television. It started off with a wealthy man hold got into his car, drove down his driveway to the letterbox, picked up the newspaper, got back into the car, and reversed back to the house. This is only one (extreme) example of the poor activity decisions many of us make everyday. Called it the American Paradox, this seemingly conflicting message reflects the drastic decrease in ‘incidental’ physical activity and its effects on the energy balance. There has been a significant decline in the amount of incidental physical activity as opposed to goal-directed exercise that we are required to do, or choose to do, in our daily lives.
Walking is the only sustained aerobic activity that is common in the population today. Getting more people to walk more often will help the health and well being of both the individual and the community. It is estimated that an increase of 4,000 steps per day will equate to a loss of 0.2 kilograms per week for a moderately overweight person. Although this may not seem like a lot, one should remember that if you started that habit this week, within 12 months you would be over 10 kilos lighter!
Note: one kilometer equals 0.62 miles
